Panel 2 • Is ESL Design Viable? Challenges of Implementing Algorithms in Hardware
Moderator: Gary Smith - Gartner Dataquest, San Jose, CA

There has been renewed focus on Electronic System Level (ESL) design, with more designers considering or initiating a move to this higher level of abstraction. This panel will take a hard look at the specific challenges of implementing system level algorithms in hardware. What are the roadblocks today? Experts representing various approaches will discuss currently available methodology choices, their challenges and their trade-offs, including behavioral synthesis, CPU extensions, and reconfigurable computing.

Panelists:
John Sanguinetti - Forte Design Systems, San Jose CA
