Panel 2Language Interoperability for Hardware-Software System Design
Moderator:
Gabe Moretti
Friday, March 2 • 2:30pm - 3:30pm
A system design environment needs standard and open interfaces among various languages and description mechanisms in order to allow unconstrained creativity to architects and designers. This panel will explore the potentials of achieving such an engineering environment. Some of the questions the panelists will attempt to answer include:

- What is software?
- For system design, are links to the software operating system enough?
- Are HDLs good enough to support software?
- Can software designers use system languages?
- Do system languages produce efficient hardware and software?

Panelists:

Vassilios Gerousis - Infineon
Anders Nordstrom - Nortel Networks
Robert Clark - Panama Networks
Steve Schulz - Texas Instruments
Gary Spivey - Rincon Research
Gregory D. Peterson - University of Tennessee
Med Belhadj - Cisco Systems Co.
